This session is aimed at those who are keen to ride more trail centre reds, but lack the confidence or have had an unpleasant experience in the past. We will cover the basic skills required, explore typical obstacles found at this level of terrain and help to improve the overall flow of your rides. It will be a morning of mountain bike skills and trail riding. If you and your mountain bike are struggling to leave the canal tow paths or asphalt cycle routes then this morning is for you.
Where: Cannock Chase Birches Valley.
Ability: It will suit those already competent on Blues or simple bridal ways. Or those familiar with road cycling but wanting to explore mountain biking.
Fitness: Basic fitness level, think weekend warrior. This is not a fitness training session, there will be only short climbs.
Bike: You will need your own mountain bike in full working order. A cross country style bike is best, whether hardtail or full suspension. If your bike hasn’t been serviced for a while please take it to your local bike shop for a service 2-3 weeks prior to attending the morning.
Equipment: Helmet and gloves are mandatory, you cannot ride without them. Knee pads are not essential but if you’re more comfortable with them then please wear them. You should have an appropriate waterproof, there will be some slow skill sessions, therefore you may get cold if it’s wet. Shoes/pedals: skills are easier to learn on flats but if you already use cleats & SPD style pedals, these are fine – this is not the time to learn how to use them, though I am happy to do a session dedicated to these on request. Bring a drink and snacks.
Whats not included: Bike, Personal equipment, Food/Drink
Price: per group. Each group will contain a maximum of 4 people per session, this ensures a higher quality service.
